It’s nothing new that you and your company need to have a detailed internet marketing plan in place. But it can be difficult to strategize and get it off the ground.
Here are some quick and easy tips to get organized and begin your 2016 marketing initiatives with a big splash.
1. Get Organized
Organization is key. Gather key members of your team along with key documents and begin to develop your plan. Look at the first quarter of the year, and develop a tangible plan with realistic goals for you and your team to meet. Delegate tasks accordingly and assign team members to specific tasks. Identify strengths and weaknesses in your marketing over the past year. What needs improvement? Maybe it’s investing in a project management software like Basecamp or Todoist. Maybe it’s holding a weekly team huddle to track progress.
2. Set SMART Goals
We talk about SMART goals often. Read a detailed plan of how you can set them here. As a team, develop a set of SMART goals for the first quarter of 2016. These goals can include increasing website traffic, engagement on social media, or generating more sales leads, just to name a few. Setting goals for Q1 will segment your goals into smaller chunks that will be easier to attain. Track these goals weekly, monthly, and review your progress often. Adjust these goals accordingly and be realistic in setting them. After all, the “A” in SMART does stand for attainable!
3. Set Up a System of Accountability
Accountability is essential in accomplishing your goals. Accountability can take on many forms. Maybe it’s an email check in, an in-person accountability buddy, or a weekly status report sent to the whole team. You decide what works best for your team. The last thing you want is to kickstart 2016 on the right foot, then let those goals fall apart because no one is checking in. Keep your team on track!
Once you get organized, set your SMART goals, and establish an accountability plan, your marketing will be streamlined and ready to take flight. Then the real fun begins!
